The financier bought a smaller island - the Little St James - back in the late 1990s, but subsequently obtained the more expansive adjacent island in the year 2016 for a sum of $22.5 million.
These photos indicate he had formulated ambitious plans to transform the substantial island by constructing residences, an amphitheatre, an office beneath the waves and a reservoir.
